Me with my Scavenger Hunt Badge and a coin that has no monetary value.

Rather than update erratically on individual badges, I will try to update weekly on all badge progress.  Ideally this will lead to more posts on a regular basis.  (Fingers crossed.)

Even though I have only finished two badges so far, I have been doing a lot of badge work.  Usually when I get too busy with things, I start to feel overwhelmed, but this has not happened with the badge work.  The result of having so many badges in progress is that I can easily find something to fit whatever mood I am in.  I have also been doing a good job of remembering that all of this is optional and that there are no real due dates, so I don't need to stress.  It's been really nice, actually.

This week I have been working on my Zombie cross stitch project, which is nearly complete.  That makes me more than halfway done with the Craft, pt. 1 badge.  I have also done origami, knitting, and calligraphy.  I still need to try papercutting, which I hope will happen soon.  I was hoping to try that out even before I started working on the badges.

The ninja army that was also my knitting project.

Today, John and I took a tour of a Frank Lloyd Wright House in Wisconsin (no, not THE Frank Lloyd Wright house in Wisconsin).  I happened to notice last night that there was a lighthouse nearby, so we stopped by in order for me to take a picture for the Scavenger Hunt.

I think the most surprising thing to me so far is how much I enjoyed working on My Brand and My Style.  I am naturally inclined to self-reflection, so perhaps this shouldn't have come as a surprise.  I kind of dreaded My Style because I think of myself as a person who doesn't have any.  By taking a picture of my outfit every day for a month, I was able to see what looked and felt good and what wasn't working for me.

I was pleased with all four of these outfits.  (I'm not going to share the things that didn't work for me.)  By doing this exercise, I was able to clear out a lot of space in my closet.  I have also been working on putting together outfits for the weekend that feel relaxed and like me but don't make my look schlubby.  (I guess schlubby generally refers to men, so whatever the female equivalent of that would be.)  I have taken things one step farther and started incorporating jewelry into my outfits, as well.  It's been fun!

This week I also started on Rebel with a Cause, for which we are supposed to do something to support a cause.  Initially, I was really thrown by the lack of the direction.  The other badges are pretty specific but this is very open.  I knew from the start that my cause would be the food pantry because I strongly believe that everyone should have food.  We already make regular donations to the food pantry so I wanted to do something bigger than that.  I came up with the idea to host a telethon to raise money.  Organizing is one of my talents, but I knew that I couldn't do the telethon alone.  So I'll have plenty of opportunities to do things that makes me uncomfortable (a requirement for the Be Brave badge).  Already this week I have asked eight people to help with the telethon.  So far I haven't had anyone say no, although not everyone has said responded to my request.  (Asking for help is NOT one of my talents, so this has been really challenging.)

I'm not really sure what I'll be working on this week.  But I'm sure it will be fun!
